The soul and afterlife- what do u think?

I have read books on near death experiences, namely many case studies done by doctors. I understand the lack of continued expansive study as some docs say (won’t cure anything really). But if so many cases have been documented of the afterlife and many doctors agreeing to it, why do people NOT believe in the afterlife and soul? Why not research this further? Are people, subconsciously, truly afraid of an afterlife? Many people who attempted suicide speak of a feeling of loneliness, the "darkness" if you will, confusion and fear. Some who have been brought back after clinically dead report of actually leaving their bodies, seeing the universe, being in the presence of the "light".
The concept is scary to some but nonexistent to others of course. I respect all opinions.

I am also an open minded christian! I have studied a lot of religions being, my mom is catholic, my 5th grade teacher was a mormon, my bassist is a jehovah’s witness, my business teacher is a deist, and my background guitarist is a satanist. But anyway, I think that everyone goes to their own personal afterlife. Be it heaven OR hell. I don’t think we all coexist in the same fantasies (which heaven would fullfill) when we go to the afterlife. I don’t know if it helped but if you have any questions, go ahead and ask away!

I’ve heard that NDEs might be the result of hypoxia. Is it true? I don’t know. Sounds more likely than some as yet-unknown spiritual self.

Because writing something down and "documenting" it does not make it scientifically acceptable. The studies that have shown NDE’s to be true have not stood up to the test of peer review, while the studies that do a basic job of replicating NDE’s seem to explain a lot of what NDE’s are (mind trips courtesy of an oxygen starved and shocked brain).

We can’t trust any "near death experiences", since people hallucinate in such extreme circumstances.
We MUST trust what the Bible says about death. The truth is that death brings IMMEDIATE heaven or hell, depending ONLY on whether you believe in Jesus alone for salvation or not.
Heaven is eternal joy with the Lord! 
Hell is eternal torment. Nobody has to be sent to hell. So to be in heaven and not hell, believe in Jesus alone for salvation now! 
Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much!
The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in Jesus for salvation, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus alone for salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what!
Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

If one were to operate on a deal making or breaking bases, the approach has its advantages but the obvious catch is, one will have to cram up a whole lot of stuff to make the right call every time. In all probability, one would run out of time. What if Pascal had his money on the right horse? We can always gamble and hope to get away with it but that would not be logical.
